Tag Intervention at Cairnhill Open Gardens event June 2015

The tags made reference and connections between my own garden in Birmingham UK and the Cairnhill garden in France. The theme for the event was garden walks and the tags were positioned in strategic places to encourage discovery on a small scale. When a mobile phone was pointed at the tags it activated a video that enabled visitors to connect to my own garden. The video was triggered by an App called ‘Aurasma’ – no longer available, it worked rather like a QR code where the painted image acted as a bespoke generator instead of a grid pattern.

Since this exhibition I have started a tour of gardens forging connections between my own interest in gardening as a personal curated space both private and public – so far connections have been made with Ian Hamilton Finley’s garden ‘Little Sparta’ in Scotland; Charleston, Sussex, Bloomsbury group; Packwood House, Warwickshire; Monet’s Garden, Giverny, France.
