The Close Proximity of Shadow is the name I gave to a series of work originally made for the ‘Conversations with books’ exhibition in early 2025. My series of work was made in response to seeing cast shadows in my home.
Walls and surfaces regularly change their appearance dependent on time of day and directional light. These observed moments are ephemeral and constantly attract my attention. The work hovers between abstraction and a poetic moment of observation. There are two books that have underpinned my interest in shadows and have provided valuable insight into these mutable phenomena.
