Break-down
Exhibited at Cairnhill garden for the 2024 Rendez-vous aux Jardins. This year the National theme was about the five senses.
I chose to work with the theme of ‘Touch’ . I was inspired by some large pieces of wood that came from trees recently felled in my garden in France. I wanted to record the surface of the cross sections and made a series of rubbings using graphite sticks on large sheets of watercolour paper. As the cut wood ages it dries out and breaks up – it’s a living organism just like humans. I called the series of artwork ‘Break-down’.
